Ever since I found out we were having a girl, it’s been bow + headband central here at #CasaRice! If you follow me on Instagram or if you’ve seen this post, you know I’m all about boys clothes for Chickie, since girl clothes can feel overly girly sometimes. Not bows though.. Bows I’ll take any day and twice on Sundays! π Beause of my bow obsession, Chickie has been through her fair share of bow experiences- good and bad. In an effort to spare your own little bird of the (literal!) headache that is a crappy bow, I thought I would compile a list of some of favorite bows out there. Am I missing any? Please let me know and I’ll be sure to include them!
First bow I ever bought.. don’t like it one bit haha
Katie, a former pre-school teacher handmakes Fancy Free Finery’s felt flower headbands and garlands right here in New England! Her headbands are out of a dream, seriously soft and STAY ON with a stretchy nylon that won’t leave a mark on your little’s head. Fancy Free Finery will always be very special to us Rice girls because they made the first headband Soph EVER wore! See below.. If you’re looking for a flower garland to prettyfy your nursery Fancy Free makes lovely ones, too!

If you love the look of classic, old school bows then I’ve got the shop for you- The Splendid Bow. Mom of two Alex started The Splendid Bow in 2013 after her daughter Ellie was born. Alex set out to design a classic bow that would stand the test of time and I’m happy to report that she’s accomplished both! These bows stay on Chickie better than most, while still not hurting her head (the nylon elastic does get stretched out over time but I’ve been tying a little knot on it when this happens and it’s worked great!) Shopping at The Splendid Bow can be a bit of an ordeal- they are only open on Mondays for about 3 hours before they sell out for the week. I’ve been posting reminders of when she shop opens on my Instagram Stories, if you want me to keep doing this just say the word!

If you (like me!) LIKE BIG BOWS AND YOU CANNOT LIE this is the brand for you! Baby Bling’s gigantic bows are oh so soft and won’t hurt your little’s head. They come in a ton of colors and prints and they even have different trims on them. My favorite Baby Bling Bow’s are their original “Classic” headbands, if you think your baby’s head is larger than average (as was Chickie’s) and if your babe doesn’t have much hair (again, like Chickie) I suggest you for for their “Classic” and stay away from their prints and textures since the stretch in those is different.

Her sweater is here, in case you’re into it!
As you might have seen on my Instagram Stories, we have reached the next bow frontier here in Casa Rice: PIG TAILS! Last week at daycare, Sophia’s favorite teacher put her hair up in two little pony tails this mama just about DIED at the pictures! On my way to pick her up THAT DAY I stopped at Nordstrom’s and got a pair of pigtail bows of course.. haha. My impulse (mom guilt motivated- how was I AT WORK while someone else did her first pig tails π) buy were these bows for $12. Turns out, they were WAY too big for her tiny pony tails.
WAY. TOO. BIG
Enter Amazon, my go to for anything and everything. I got packets of 20 PAIRS of bows each, these smaller ones and these bigger ones for CHEAP! They’ve gone up in a price a bit since I got them but they are still a REALLY good deal-$20 for both sets (80 bows!!!!). I don’t have any pictures of Chickie wearing them yet since they arrived today but I will be trying them on her tonight and posting on my stories! I’ll also update this post once I get some cute pictures π HOORAY FOR PIGTAILS! ππ€
Any other good bows out there we should be trying? Comment below and I’ll be sure to check them out! Thanks for stopping by! And remember- bows are a GREAT way to show baby who makes the rules; use it! If baby takes it off, don’t pay attention, just deal with it as you would any other annoying habit and ignore away while putting it back on, as explained in this post. Happy shopping friends!
